The City of Santa Maria Public Library is pleased to welcome the local branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Santa Maria-Lompoc Branch as they present a Celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. on Sunday, January 14th from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. in Lavagnino Plaza.
 
This remarkable program will feature “Drum Major Instinct” a presentation by Dr. Darren McDuffie, Superintendent of the Santa Maria-Bonita School District, and music, dancing, and readings from Dr. King’s “The Quest for Peace and Justice.”
 
This celebration is made possible thanks to the NAACP, Santa Maria-Bonita School District, Santa Maria Joint Union High School District, Future Leaders of America, United Domestic Workers of America, Santa Barbara County Behavior Wellness Department, Virginia Souza, Pam Gates, and Cliff Solomon.
