Position Description
The Bilingual Business Outreach & Support Specialist for the Santa Maria Valley Chamber plays a key role in business outreach and business support services for local businesses in the Santa Maria Valley. This full time position will work will work with the Chamber leadership team to develop and implement strategies to deepen the Chamber’s relationships with small businesses in our community, with a particular emphasis on businesses with Hispanic ownership, or those who primarily serve the Hispanic community. 
Examples of the tasks included in the work plan for this position include:

  • Conduct outreach to small and minority-owned businesses, particularly those with Hispanic ownership.
  • Assess business needs and connect them with relevant programs and resources.
  • Facilitate engagement in Chamber and community programs, committees, and boards.
  • Coordinate the Hispanic Business Committee's activities and events.
  • Track data to inform future programming and strengthen business connections.
Desired Background, Skills and Abilities
The Chamber is looking for an individual who demonstrates the following:
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with online databases.
  • Associate's degree preferred or equivalent industry experience.
  • Goal-oriented, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be available for occasional travel within Santa Barbara County
  • ability to self-manage priorities, work flow, and time;
  • ability to be detail oriented and perform responsibilities efficiently and accurately
  • ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • ability to work in a team environment
  • demonstrated interest in, and appreciation for, the Santa Maria Valley community
Reporting & Supervision
This position reports to the Chamber’s Director of Economic Development.
Compensation and Work Benefits
This position is classified as non-exempt and offered currently as a full-time position.  The position offers the following benefits and compensation:
  • competitive hourly wage of $23-$25/hour, based on experience and qualifications
